Title
Resolution amending Resolution 29 of 2013 authorizing the Mayor to: 1) award Event Mini-Grants to selected current participants in the 2013 Edible Gardens Program, and 2) to expand the scope of the 2013 Cool Roofs Program by donating painting supplies and materials to selected non-profit organizations for use on eligible non-City roofs.

Body
WHEREAS, the City was awarded a $100,000 grant by Cities of Service, Inc. (“COS”) for the purpose of funding two service initiatives: Green Up Pittsburgh (Edible Gardens) and Cool Roofs; and

WHEREAS, these two service initiatives have proven to be quite successful, and the City is now interested in expanding both initiatives to ensure that remaining grant funds assigned to both initiatives are expended before the grant deadline; and

WHEREAS, COS has approved of the City's request to expand these initiatives; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor is now seeking authorization to enter into agreements with selected non-profit organizations to: 1) award Event Mini-Grants to selected current participants in the 2013 Edible Gardens Program, and 2) to expand the scope of the 2013 Cool Roofs Program by donating painting supplies and materials to selected non-profit organizations for use on eligible non-City roofs.

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

Section 1. The Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into an Edible Gardens Program Event Mini-Grant Agreement with selected non-profit organizations that are currently participating in the City's 2013 Edible Gardens Program. The Mayor's Office shall select awardees pursuant to a competitive application process and shall determine award amounts based on proposed events and award criteria. No award may exceed Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) per group. Each Event Mini-Grant Agreement must be approved by the City Solicitor as to form and substance.
