Title
Resolution authorizing the Mayor to accept and expend on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh a grant from the American Beverage Foundation/PA Beverage Association in the total amount of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000) for the purpose of expanding the Green Up Pittsburgh: Edible Gardens initiative.
Body
WHEREAS, Green Up Pittsburgh: Edible Gardens ("Edible Gardens") is a community gardening initiative that engages volunteers to improve availability of healthy foods in 10-15 low-income City neighborhoods where access to affordable fresh produce is scarce; and
WHEREAS, Edible Gardens will provide resources to communities to install raised beds and vegetable plants in designated City-owned lots; and
WHEREAS, the American Beverage Foundation/PA Beverage Association has offered to provide additional grant funding for Edible Gardens; and
WHEREAS, these grant funds will be spent on additional promotional items and garden supplies for Edible Gardens.
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
Section 1. The Mayor, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, is hereby authorized to accept a grant from the American Beverage Foundation/PA Beverage Association in the amount of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000) for the purpose of expanding the Green Up Pittsburgh: Edible Gardens initiative. Grant monies will be received in the form of a check made out to "Treasurer, City of Pittsburgh" and deposited into the following account: 0229400105.48311.00. After receipt of these funds, purchases of promotional items and garden supplies for Edible Gardens are authorized and shall be paid out of account: 0229400105.50000.00.
