WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce of the City of Allegheny, whose name has since changed to the Northside/North Shore Chamber of Commerce (NS/NSCC), was incorporated in 1897 to help promote, maintain and enhance business activities on what is now Pittsburgh's Northside; and
WHEREAS, the NS/NSCC has grown to well over one hundred members, ranging from civic groups and labor unions, to a wide range of Northside-based businesses; and
WHEREAS, in addition to working with local government and its members to foster a positive business climate, the NS/NSCC has committed to investing in Northside and North Shore community assets, local charitable organizations, and community events; and
WHEREAS, on July 10, the NS/NSCC will host the 25th annual North Side Community Night at PNC Park to watch the Pirates take on the Oakland Athletics; and
WHEREAS, before the game, the NS/NSCC will welcome hundreds to a tailgate event with hot dogs and hamburgers, a DJ, family-friendly games, and beer from local breweries;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Northside/North Shore Chamber of Commerce for coordinating this special community event for the past twenty-five years; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare July 10, 2013, to be "North Side Community Night" in the City of Pittsburgh.
