Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and honor the individuals and organizations that planned such an important event; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, June 29, 2013 to be “Community PEACE Awareness Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, community leaders, public officials, and dedicated volunteers who take action to help prevent violence in our communities, and provide services to at-risk youth, make the City of Pittsburgh a better place to live for all; and

WHEREAS, on Saturday, June 29th, 2013, at Stage AE, Stop the Violence - Pittsburgh will conduct a Community PEACE Awareness Day that will bring together nearly twenty grass-roots organizations and elected officials from the Pittsburgh area; and

WHEREAS, the Community PEACE Awareness Day will offer a platform for local organizations including music institutes, mental health specialists, and domestic violence groups to showcase some of the high-quality support services that are available to the community; and

WHEREAS, the event will also include motivational speakers on conflict resolution and anti-bullying, live entertainment, and the “Gone but Not Forgotten” segment to commemorate the murder victims of 2012-2013 and their families; and

WHEREAS, the following individuals and organizations will be recognized for their efforts to reduce violence and prevent crime:
