Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Jewish Association on Aging for envisioning a community in which the elderly have a suitable place to live, are socially engaged, are well-nourished physically and emotionally, receive the health care they need and are spiritually fulfilled in the Jewish tradition and congratulates the 8 respected and distinguished “8 Over 80” honorees for a lifetime of dedication and commitment to the Pittsburgh and Jewish communities ; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare June 6, 2013, to be “EIGHT OVER 80 DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the mission of the Jewish Association on Aging is to offer a comprehensive network of social, residential, rehabilitation, medical and nutritional services that are developed and implemented in accordance with Jewish values; and,

WHEREAS, for over 100 years, Pittsburgh's Jewish Community has been committed to providing healthcare, shelter and religious services to its seniors. The JAA's continuum of quality care provides the elderly with the opportunity to age in a dignified manner and have a partner that will always advocate for them; and,

WHEREAS, this year, the JAA will host the 13th Annual “EIGHT OVER 80” where they will honor distinguished individuals who have served their community with activism, dedication, commitment and philanthropy; and,

WHEREAS, this year's “Eight Over 80” event will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Congregation Beth Shalom with the “JAA Classic Radio Hour” which will include BIG music from a small band and the JAA Andrew Sisters. Proceeds will benefit the JAA Benevolent Care Fund which offers support to seniors with limited resources; and,

WHEREAS, this year the “Eight Over 80” honorees are:
