WHEREAS, the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh has become a landmark institution on Pittsburgh's Northside, offering interactive museum experiences that inspire joy, creativity, and curiosity to thousands of visitors each year; and
WHEREAS, the Children's Museum has made quite a journey from its humble beginnings in the basement of the Old Post Office Building, to being recognized as one of the top ten children's museums in the country, and receiving many national awards and recognitions for excellence; and
WHEREAS, last year the Children's Museum led a $6.1 million collaborative effort to revitalize the neglected Buhl Community Park of Allegheny Center, transforming it into a vibrant green space, and a valuable community asset; and
WHEREAS, this year the Children's Museum will be celebrating 30 years of serving the Northside and the greater Pittsburgh region through its innovative and educational exhibits and events; and
WHEREAS, on Friday, June 7, 2013, chairs Greta and Art Rooney II will host the Great Night Gala 30th Birthday Celebration, featuring live and silent auctions, dinner, and music under the stars, as well as the presentation of the Great Friend of Children Award to The Junior League of Pittsburgh, Henry Gailliot and Ron Wertz;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh on 30 years of excellence and service to Pittsburgh's Northside; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, June 7, 2013 to be "Children's Museum Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
