Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend The Jewish Women's Foundation for it belief in making the world a better place both structurally by strengthening the role of women and girls in our society and culturally by influencing the way people think about and act upon things regarding women and girls' issues; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare June 5, 2013, to be “THE JEWISH WOMEN'S FOUNDATION DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, The Jewish Women's Foundation of Greater Pittsburgh was created to effect lasting social change in the lives of women and girls in the Jewish and general communities; and,
 
WHEREAS, founded in 2000 because less that 7% of foundation grants nationwide focused on projects specifically serving women and girls, the Trustees of The Jewish Women's Foundation carries out its mission by making strategic grants on a yearly basis; and,    
 
WHEREAS, The Jewish Women's Foundation offers their donors the opportunity to participate in the direction and distribution of their personal philanthropy, providing an opportunity for Jewish women to use their leadership and financial resources to make a difference. The Trustees of the Foundation are the decision makers in all aspects of the grant making process, determining funding focus, reviewing proposals and making the funding decisions; and,
 
WHEREAS, The Jewish Women's Foundation will celebrate ten years of funding women's and girl's initiatives with an Evening of Fantastic Food, Fabulous Friends and Financial Fitness featuring NBC's Today Show Financial Editor Jean Chatzky on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at the Rivers Club; and,
