Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend the dedication and commitment of the Emergency Medical Teams to the residents of the City of Pittsburgh; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh declares May 19 through May 25 as “Emergency Medical Services Week” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the members of the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services devote their careers to saving the lives of others and  promotes the improvement of pre-hospital medical care through practice, research and community service; and
 
WHEREAS, Emergency Medical Teams consist of highly trained Paramedics, Firefighter First Responders, Telecommunications Officers, Physicians and Nurses whose knowledge and skills benefit the people of Pittsburgh on a daily basis; and,  
 
WHEREAS, National Emergency Medical Services Week brings together local communities and medical personnel to publicize safety and honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day life saving services of medicine's "front line"; and,
 
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the value and the accomplishments of emergency medical services providers not only for the care they give to the City of Pittsburgh residents, but for the compassion they give to others such as the recent donation to the victims of the Boston Marathon; and,
