Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, May 7, 2013 to be “Rev. Tyrone Munson Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Reverend Tyrone Munson was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on September 30, 1962 to the late Helen Munson Turner Henix and present 83 year old father Lloyd Russell; and,

WHEREAS, Reverend Munson attended Booker T. Washington High School in Shreveport, LA and at the age of sixteen he accepted the calling of the Gospel Ministry under the late Reverend Dr. W. L. Stewart at the Sunrise Baptist Church; and,

WHEREAS, the Reverend attended the Community College of Allegheny County- Homewood branch, Bishop College in Dallas, Texas, Southern University in Shreveport, Lousiana, and Shreveport Bible College in Shreveport, Louisiana in order to fulfill God's purpose in the ministry; and,

WHEREAS, Reverend Munson was licensed on April 25, 1979 and ordained on August 10, 1981 to the Baptist Ministry by the Sunrise Baptist Church under Rev Dr. W.L. Stewart. He graduated from Shreveport Bible College in May 1983 with an Honorary Bachelor degree in Religion, Theology and Divinity; and,

WHEREAS, Reverend Munson is a proud father of four grown children, Aviva, twins Tyra and Tyrice, and Ashley, and has two grandchildren in Markaya and Kendall; and,

WHEREAS, the Reverend is the senior pastor at the Historic Olivet Baptist Church. He has served the Homewood area working with youth at the YMCA Homewood branch, as well as Job Corp, Circle C and Vision Quest in Franklin PA; and,

WHEREAS, the Reverend has many affiliations and partnerships in the Hill District community with the NAACP, Youth Against Crimes, the Allegheny Union Baptist Association, the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc., the Pennsylvania Baptist State Convention, and he is an associate minister at Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he has served as a faithful servant under the leadership of Rev Dr. J.V.A. Winset in the hospital ministry at West Penn;
