WHEREAS, NHS Human Services is a diversified non-profit human services company that provides a continuum of care to children and adults with special needs; and
WHEREAS, NHS provides services in the areas of addictive diseases, autism, education, intellectual and developmental disabilities, juvenile justice, mental health, specialized services and treatment foster care & permanency planning; and
WHEREAS, NHS provides innovative solutions to support the unique needs of the individuals by striving to create a caring and responsive; and
WHEREAS, NHS serves as the safety net for people who otherwise could not afford care and who often "fall between the cracks" of bureaucracy and red tape; and
WHEREAS, NHS operates the Allegheny Valley School, a private, non-profit organization established in 1960 to care for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, today serving more than 900 children, adults and senior citizens; and
WHEREAS, on April 10 at the LeMont Restaurant in Mount Washington, NHS will host the "Many Faces of NHS", an event to raise funds and increase awareness about their important work.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize NHS Human Services for providing vital support and care to neighbors in need; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare April 10, 2013 to be "The Many Faces of NHS Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
