WHEREAS, Big Brothers Big Sisters is the nation's largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, operating under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life ; and,
WHEREAS, the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one -to - one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever; and,
WHEREAS, in an effort to support the work, raise funds and promote mentoring, BBBS has partnered with Carlow University where Carlow students team up with high school freshmen to teach mentees invaluable lessons in diversity, self-esteem, work-life balancing and effective communications. Fashion for Kids Sake is a 10 week mentoring program for high school freshmen from Andrew Stewart High School in Homestead culminating in a high energy Fashion Show that meshes mentoring and glamour by creating a one-of-a-kind trend setting experience ; and,
WHEREAS, the 4th Annual Fashion For Kids' Sake Fashion Show will take place on April 16, 2013 at the St. Agnes Center of Carlow University; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend the Big Brother Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh for their successful work in changing the lives of children in our region and congratulates Carlow University and the students of Andrew Stewart High School for a spectacular Fashion For Kids' Sake Fashion Show; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, , that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, April 16, 2013, to be "FASHION FOR KIDS' SAKE " in the City of Pittsburgh.
