Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate the Bishop Canevin Girls Basketball Team for their commitment to teamwork and their historic PIAA title; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, April 9, 2013, to be “Bishop Canevin Girls Basketball Day” in the City of Pittsburgh. Varsity Seniors: Celina Dipietro, Carly Forse and Erin Waskowiak; Juniors: Caroline DeFrank, Alaina McGuire, Johnie Olkosky; Sophomore: Natasha Rajakovich; Freshman: Erin Joyce, Riley O'Donnell, and Gina Vallecorsa; Junior Varsity Sophomores: Kaitlin Sonson, Kylee Sonson, Mary Tresky; Freshman: Caroline Clarke, Riana Conway, Mackenzie Mangum, Leah Narkevic, Karissa Shaner, Becca Turney Head Coach: Tim Joyce; Assistant Coaches: Jenn O'Shea, Lauren Wilmus and Wim Rogers

WHEREAS, under the direction of Head Coach Tim Joyce, Bishop Canevin Girls Basketball Team made it to the PIAA Class AA Title Game and won its first PIAA basketball championship in Canevin's history after winning their first WPIAL Title on Friday, March 1; and,
WHEREAS, on March 1, 2013, the Crusaders upset Seton-La Salle, who has not lost to a WPIAL opponent since December, 2010, 56-47 to win the WPIAL Class AA giving Coach Joyce his first WPIAL title after having his 200th win; and,
WHEREAS, Junior Johnie Olkosky, of Sheraden, tied a WPIAL championship game record set in 1999, by making seven 3-pointers during the game finishing with 26 points; Senior Carly Forse of Mt. Washington gave the Crusaders 14 points and Senior Celina DiPietro from Crafton Heights 10 points and floor leadership came from Erin Waskowiak who resides in Carrick; and,
WHEREAS, on March 22, 2013, Seniors Force and Dipietro scored 18 points each, Senior Erin Waskowiak controlled the game and defense was right on when Canevin took a 45-38 victory over York Catholic giving the school their first PIAA Basketball title; and,
