WHEREAS, as part of a US public diplomacy program, the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates based in Washington, D.C. is conducting US regional outreach visits around the country to educate Americans about the strength of a United States - United Arab Emirates bilateral relationship from a business, security, and cultural perspective; and,
WHEREAS, on April 9, 2013, two diplomats from the Embassy- the Second Political Secretary, Dr. Saghira Al Ahbabi and Chief of Staff & Advisor to the Commercial Counselor, Talal M. Al Kaissi - will be in Pittsburgh to meet with civic, community, business leaders and even students from Mt. Lebanon High School to discuss the importance of a strong US/UAE partnership, our growing commercial ties, and answer questions about life in the UAE; and,
WHEREAS, born and raised in the United Arab Emirates, Dr. Alsaghira Al Ahbabi is the Second Political Secretary at the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Washington, D.C. As such, she directs the think tanks and NGOs office in the political department. Her duties include monitoring, studying, and analyzing current issues and policies that influence the Middle East in general, with a specific focus on the UAE; and,
WHEREAS, Talal M. Al Kaissi is the Chief of Staff and Advisor to the Commercial Counselor at the United Arab Emirate's Embassy's Trade and Commercial Office. In this position, Talal works to enhance and maintain the positive nature of the UAE/US bilateral trade and commercial relationship by developing and maintaining contacts with public and private entities on both sides, identifying synergies and assessing viable opportunities to facilitate agreements or transactions between the UAE and the US.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby officially recognize and welcome Dr. Alsaghira Al Ahbabi and Talal M. Al Kaissi as they visit the City of Pittsburgh and explore areas for future collaboration.
