Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Dustin Wichelmann for his leadership and hard work and congratulates Dustin on earning the highest Boy Scout honor, The Eagle Scout Award.

WHEREAS, the mission of the Boys Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and law so that they can become responsible, participating citizens; and,

WHEREAS, the Eagle Scout designation for the Boy Scouts of America is the highest advancement in Scouting and on in which a Boy Scout must fulfill requirements in the areas of leadership, service and outdoor skills; and,

WHEREAS, to advance to the Eagle Scout rank, a Boy Scout must pass specific tests that are organized by requirements and merit badges, signifying mastery of skills of personal interest in many of the available merit badges; and,

WHEREAS, Dustin Wichelmann of Troop 1111, having completed all requirements and having been examined by an Eagle Scout Board of Review, was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at the Eagle Court of Honor; and,

WHEREAS, Dustin Wichelmann, a member of the Boy Scouts since Kindergarten, has progressed through the ranks from Tiger Scout to Webelo to a Patrol Leader and a Cub Scout Den Chief with Troop 1111. For his Eagle Scout Project , Dustin constructed an Emergency Weather Shelter on the CCAC South Campus Nature Trail which he built around an already existing bench near the center of the Trail. The Shelter is an 8'x4'x6' structure enclosed on three sides and cemented into the ground.

WHEREAS, Dustin is 18 years old, has two sisters and is a Senior at West Mifflin High School He plans to attend CCAC in the Fall of 2013 where he will pursue a degree as a Pre-Hospital Registered Nurse. Dustin is a Cadet with the West Mifflin Air Force ROTC, a Firefighter with the West Mifflin Fire Department and is in training for EMT with Jefferson Hills Ambulance, all while holding down a job at the Sheetz in Pleasant Hills.
