WHEREAS, Program to Aid Citizen Enterprise (PACE), a partner agency of the United Way of Allegheny County is a nonprofit funder and management support organization formed during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960's; and
WHEREAS, PACE celebrates 45 years of continued commitment to support and strengthen local organizations that are rooted in environments where their services are most critical; and
WHEREAS, PACE's programs focus on funding/capacity building, community resource development, education, knowledge development and advocacy, and direct consulting services. They provide organizational capacity building that strengthens non-profits in ways that enhance their ability to improve the lives of the people they serve; and
WHEREAS, on Friday, April 12, 2013, PACE will host the 5th Annual Inclusive Voices Luncheon, an event that has become a catalyst for creativity and growth and creates an environment for easy exchange of ideas and commitment to action, that effects positive change in our city; and

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend PACE for its efforts to assist African American and economically disadvantaged communities to identify their needs and take effective action; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, April 12, 2013, to be "Pace Inclusive Voices Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
