WHEREAS, Lynne Ford-Adams, a dedicated wife to Douglass Adams and mother to Shawna, Keva, and Susan, is a lifelong Pittsburgh resident who has dedicated her life to serving others. She is a longtime member of Union Baptist Church, and has spent 35 years at the City of Pittsburgh's Department of Parks and Recreation. During her tenure Mrs. Adams gave 15 years of service to the Homewood Senior Center, a healthy active living center; and,
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Lynn Ford-Adams numerous programs were developed for the health and enjoyment of seniors. She developed programs that included bible study, senior volunteers for the Pittsburgh Marathon, the Operation Better Block Senior Cleanup Campaign, and the Rosedale Block Cluster.
WHEREAS, Due to her interest in keeping seniors both mentally and physically healthy, she brought many activities from the Community College of Allegheny County to the center, as well as exercise, such as line dancing. She also engaged Pittsburgh Public School students with seniors, providing an intergenerational experience. She made provisions for seniors to play different types of games, utilizing the games room to ensure that they maintained a healthy active life; and,
WHEREAS, After 35 years Mrs. Lynn Ford-Adams will be retiring. She is excited to spend more time with her five grandchildren and hopefully travel more.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Lynn Ford Adams for decades of service and commitment to seniors; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, March 26, 2013, to be "Lynn Ford Adams Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
