Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Cribs for Kids for their success in reducing the incidence of SIDS through their awareness campaigns and successful outreach, and Mary and District Attorney Steven Zappala, Jr. for hosting the 8th Annual Celebrate & Share Women of Achievement Awards Dinner to honor the achievements of 26 women from the Pittsburgh area whose work embodies the spirit of Women's History Month; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Wednesday, March 6, 2013, to be “CELEBRATE AND SHARE DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Celebrate & Share was founded in 2002 by Bonnie DiCarlo and JoAnn R. Forrester to feature the achievements of women and raise funds for organizations which focus on the needs of women and children in the Pittsburgh community ; and,

WHEREAS, On March 6, 2013, the 8th Annual Celebrate & Share Women of Achievement Awards Dinner: “A Celebration of Women's History Month” will take place at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Downtown Pittsburgh, and;

WHEREAS, Proceeds from this event will benefit Cribs for Kids, a National Safe Sleep Initiative that was founded in 1998 by District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala, Jr., Cribs for Kids Executive Director Judith Bannon, the late Mayor Bob O'Connor and Commander Gwen Elliot. Since then, the program has networked throughout the United States and expanded to 300 partners. Judy Bannon and her staff and volunteers continue tirelessly to spread the word about preventing accidental sleep related deaths by providing cribs for infants in need and educating parents about practicing safe sleep for their babies ; and,

WHEREAS, this year's distinguished gathering will honor 26 prominent Women of Achievement from the Pittsburgh region. The honorees include: Dara Ware Allen, Esther Barazzone, Noreen McGinnis Campbell, Jennifer L. Cairns, Lynn E. Coghill, Sheila K. Collins, Hon. Phyllis Charmaine Comer, Teresa Conn, Susan Frietsche, Linda Hernandez,, Kathy Kappel, Peggy Kearney, Suzan Lami, Maggie Hardy Magerko, Cathy A. Mary, Kamana Mathur, Susan Nitzberg, Chelle Robinson, Bernadette Eyler Smith, Jeannette E. South-Paul, Elizabeth Terrell, Bonnie McGinnis Vello, Anne Martindale Williams, Susan A. Yohe, Sharon McGinnis Young and Pittsburgh City Council's own City Clerk, Linda Johnson-Wasler. ;
