WHEREAS, On Saturday Feb. 23, 2013 The Westinghouse Lady Bulldogs Basketball team defeated Pittsburgh Allderdice HS 54-42 in the City League Championship Game. This is the first Championship for the Lady Bulldogs since 2009. The Lady Bulldogs continued a streak of 26 straight Championship Game appearances this year. Coach Phyllis Jones has experienced 10 City League Championships while Head Coach of the Lady Bulldogs; and,
WHEREAS, This year's team worked very hard to overcome injuries and others minor setbacks along the way. The Lady Bulldogs are committed to academics and spend time every day in after-school academic programming prior to basketball practice. The Lady Bulldogs sense of teamwork and commitment to one another has helped them to become the benchmark for basketball success in the City League.

WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Head Coach Phyllis Jones and Assistant Coach Talitha Cox the Lady Bulldogs ended the season with an overall record of 17-10.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate; The Westinghouse HS Varsity Girls Basketball Team and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, March 4 , 2013, to be " The Westinghouse Bulldogs Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
