Title

Resolution providing for the designation of as an Historic district under Section 1101.03 of Title 11 of the Code of Ordinances that certain district known as the Mexican War Streets Historic district Expansion.

Body

Whereas, the City of Pittsburgh has duly enacted Title 11 of the Code of Ordinances, which protects and preserves areas of historic and landmark significance; and

Whereas, Planning Commissioner Kirk Burkley has requested the designation of that area as a City-Designated Historic District; and

Whereas, the Historic Review Commission has held a meeting in the community explain the effects of the designation and also held a public  held a public hearing to gather testimony on this designation; and

Whereas, the Historic Review Commission voted to recommend the designation of the Mexican War Streets Historic District Expansion designation to City Council with a boundary amended from the original nomination form; and

Whereas, the City Planning Commission voted to recommend the designation of the Mexican War Streets Historic District Expansion designation to City Council with the boundary identified in the original nomination form; and

Whereas, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh finds that the area included in the aforementioned historic district nomination has historic significance which should be preserved;

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

Section 1.      Pursuant to the provisions of Section 1101.03 of Title 11 of the Code of Ordinances, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby designates the following as a historic district:

The Mexican War Streets Historic District Expansion is located on the Northside in the 22^nd and 25^th Wards.  The following description of the district is organized by address and lot and block number.  In addition, a map showing the boundaries of the district is included.
