WHEREAS, in the words of John Lennon, "Count your age by friends, not years. Count your life by smiles, not tears." And in the life of Joannie Kravetz who reaches the youthful age of 80 on February 10, 2013 , it's a life well lived; and,
WHEREAS, Joannie Kravetz was born in Pittsburgh, PA in 1933, moved to Baltimore, Maryland with her family and then moved back to Pittsburgh in the 10th grade, building a life of friends and family which she enjoys to this day ; and,
WHEREAS, Joannie attended Taylor Allderdice High School and was married to the late Alvin Kravetz, also a graduate of Allderdice High School. They raised two children, Ina and Michael, and Joannie has three grandchildren, Brian, Zachary and Ali. Ina and Larry Gumberg live in Pittsburgh and Michael lives in Israel; and,
WHEREAS, Joannie has spent most of her professional career with the Pittsburgh Public School District, having served as a school secretary and clerk at Peabody, Gladstone, Herron Hill and Allderdice ; and,
WHEREAS, Joannie has been a central part of and a welcomed presence in the Allderdice office, friends to teachers, students and administration alike, greeting students every day with a smile and often being referred to as Nana.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Joannie Kravetz on the occasion of her 80th Birthday, recognizes the special gifts she brings to her job and the people with whom she works and wishes her good health and happiness for the future; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, , that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare February 10, 2013 , to be "JOANNIE KRAVETZ DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.
