Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Diana Bucco for her outstanding accomplishments and dedication to not only the communities of the City of Pittsburgh, but to the State of Pennsylvania and congratulates Ms. Bucco for her new position; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, February 5, 2013, to be “Diana Bucco Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, in October 2012, Diana Bucco was named Vice President of the Buhl Foundation and began her new venture on January 16, 2013; and,

WHEREAS, she has dedicated her career to supporting communities by building up the nonprofit sector; a social entrepreneur, Ms. Bucco was the founding director of the Coro Center for Civic Leadership and The Mentoring Partnership of Southwestern Pennsylvania; Prior to her new role at the Buhl Foundation, she was the President of The Forbes Funds; and,

WHEREAS, while at the Forbes Funds, Ms. Bucco served numerous neighborhoods in Pittsburgh focusing on human services and community development, assisting in strengthening the infrastructure of the nonprofit sector by working directly with nonprofit staff and boards to improve their capacity to work together, meet their mission, raise funds, and develop business plans and a shared vision that allowed for collaboration and progress in our city neighborhoods; and,

WHEREAS, during her many years in the nonprofit arena she has strengthened the capacity of many city neighborhoods by building partnerships with nonprofits, government and businesses bringing resources and expertise to many of our city residents who have chosen to be leaders in addressing the needs and opportunities in their communities; and,

WHEREAS, during her many years in the nonprofit arena she has received numerous awards including, but not limited to, being recognized by the state as one of the top ten of the X Generation, a member of Pittsburgh's 40 under 40 and most recently awarded a Marshall Memorial Fellowship; and,
