Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare January 28, 2013 to be “Rich Bellisario Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Rich Bellisario has been a fixture in the City Pity Planning Department since being hired by the City of Pittsburgh in September 19, 1977, when he was brought on as a Grant Accountant for the Community Development Program; and,
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Bellisario moved to the City Planning Department when he joined its Community Development Program in 1980, in what would turn out to be the beginning of a partnership that has continued to this day; and,
 
WHEREAS, starting as a Grant Accountant, Mr. Bellisario went on to assume increasingly important roles in City Planning, where he also served as a Fiscal Officer, Community Development Program Supervisor, and Assistant Planning Director for Community Development, a position he has held since 1987; and,  
 
WHEREAS, during his 25 year tenure as Assistant Planning Director, Mr. Bellisario has been instrumental in the administration of federally funded projects in the City of Pittsburgh, overseeing the handling of $700 million in federal monies throughout his career; and,
 
WHEREAS, in addition to serving the City as an employee of its Planning Department, Mr. Bellisario has contributed to the community as an active member of the City's Equal Opportunity Review Committee, sitting on the boards of the Community Technical Assistance Center and the National Community Development Association, and as an Assistant Boy Scout Leader for many years; and,
 
WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh bids farewell to Rich Bellisario as he prepares to retire in January of 2013, leaving behind a tough act to follow, as the City will sorely miss the breadth of his knowledge and experience in a career dedicated to making Pittsburgh a better place to live;
