WHEREAS, Elliott Coleman, a licensed real estate broker, has dutifully served the City of Pittsburgh since January 27, 1991, when he joined the City Planning Department in the Community Development Division as a Planner before his promotion to Senior Planner; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Coleman played a key role in seeing through developments in the City of Pittsburgh during his tenure, as Pittsburgh experienced its 2nd renaissance and is currently witnessing its 3rd renaissance; and,
WHEREAS, as a contract manager, Mr. Coleman has worked closely with numerous community groups and non-profit organizations to facilitate community revitalization activities funded with Community Development Block Grant funds, ensuring the community was always closely involved in the developments of their neighborhoods; and,
WHEREAS, complementing his professional roles in the City Planning Department, Mr. Coleman has similarly contributed to the community as the Planning Department's liaison to the Advisory Board for Community Based Organizations, as Vice-President of the Neighborhood Housing Services Board, and as Chapter President of the National Black MBA Association; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Coleman retired from his duties for the City of Pittsburgh on January 25 of 2013 after 22 years of dedicated service, where his likeable personality and easy going manner will be sorely missed by all those who have had the pleasure to work with him;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare January 29, 2013 to be "Elliot Coleman Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
