Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare January 29, 2013 to be “Susan Scheuring Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Susan Scheuring began her career with the City of Pittsburgh on April 20, 1981, when she was hired as a Planner in the Department of City Planning; and,
 
WHEREAS, throughout her tenure, Mrs. Scheuring rose through the ranks of the City Planning Department where she went on to serve as Senior Planner, a Principal Planner and a Community Development Program Supervisor, the most recent position she has held since 1989; and,
 
WHEREAS, a compassionate citizen above all else, Mrs. Scheuring became the point person to address the City's homelessness issues, having served on the Steering Committee for the Homeless, the local Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program, the Homeless Advisory Board and the Planning Committee for the 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness; and,  
 
WHEREAS, after 32 years of dedicated service to the City of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Scheuring will be retiring from her duties in January of 2013; and,
 
WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh is saddened to bid her farewell, as she has proven herself to be a dedicated, self motivated, hard-working and compassionate employee for the City Planning Department; and,
 
WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh wishes Susan Scheuring all the best in her future endeavors, and thanks her for her years of service working to make Pittsburgh a better place to live;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare January 29, 2013 to be "Susan Scheuring Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
