WHEREAS, Jericho Lodge #20, one of several Lodges under the umbrella of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, is currently celebrating 100 years of Leadership and Excellence; and,
WHEREAS, Jericho Lodge #20 was first organized as a club on November 10, 1911, when it was comprised of twenty five men who were initiated as Entered Apprentice Masons on November 10, 1911 and raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Masons on November 24, 1911; and,
WHEREAS, the first duly elected officers of Jericho Lodge #20 were Robert L. Vann-Worshipful Master, Grover F. Nelson-Senior Warden, Edward T. Bell-Junior Warden, William West-Treasurer, John M. Morgan-Secretary, George Stamps-Senior Deacon, Eudell Williams-Junior Deacon, Charles A. Anderson-Chaplain, J.W. Harvill-Senior Steward, Lorenzo Dow-Junior Steward and John Young-Tyler; and,
WHEREAS, Jericho Lodge #20 continues its tradition of leadership and excellence with a focus on youth by providing scholarships to students and volunteering and creating a number of community service initiatives in the Western Pennsylvania area; and,
WHEREAS, the brothers of Jericho Lodge #20 continually subscribe to the principles of brotherly love, relief and truth with a strong emphasis on charity; and,
WHEREAS, the membership includes upright men in the Pittsburgh community of strong spiritual and moral values who are members of one of the world's oldest secular fraternal societies;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare December 15, 2012 to be "Jericho Lodge #20 Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
