WHEREAS, Roy Hobbs Baseball is a national organization that administers Men's Senior Baseball Competition around the United States through summer leagues and regional tournaments, culminating with the National Championships that are decided at its Annual World Series in Fort Myers, Florida each November; and,
WHEREAS, the Ohio Classics Baseball Team, comprised of players from Pittsburgh, Western PA, Eastern Ohio, Western NY and Colorado, competed in the 65 year old Division during the week of November 4-10, 2012. Although many of the players live outside the Western Pennsylvania area, many have roots or family in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County; and,
WHEREAS, the Ohio Classics, displaying great skill, solid pitching, stellar defense and teamwork, won the 2012 65 Year Old Roy Hobbs National Championship by compiling a perfect 7-0 record, culminated by an 8-0 victory in the Championship Game against a team from Terre Haute, Indiana; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and congratulate the OHIO CLASSICS Baseball Team for winning the 65's National Championship and for bringing honor to our area, adding to the rich athletic history of Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, December 11, 2012, to be "OHIO CLASSICS DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.
