WHEREAS, the Bloomfield Sandwich Shop, located at 4613 Liberty Avenue, is a neighborhood institution, feeding Bloomfield, the City of Pittsburgh, and visitors from around the country for years; and
WHEREAS, Rosalyn Dukes, affectionately known as "Mama Roz", and her staff are beloved by the Bloomfield community, from the families who grew up there to college students and new residents; and
WHEREAS, every Thanksgiving for the past 10 years Roz and her staff have cooked free Thanksgiving lunches for those who don't have families or can't afford a meal; and
WHEREAS, they cook 10 or more turkeys with all of the traditional Thanksgiving side dishes and feed over 175 Bloomfield residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, this year, in addition to feeding folks at the Shop, they will be delivering meals to the owners and staff of Bloomfield stores and businesses that are open on Thanksgiving.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the generosity and community spirit of Rosalyn Dukes and her staff at the Bloomfield Sandwich Shop; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare November 19, 2012 "Bloomfield Sandwich Shop Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
