Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Andy DePaul for his success throughout his boxing career, and for his service as a referee and as the State Athletic Commissioner in Western PA; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Thursday, November 22, 2012, to be “Andy Kid DePaul Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Andrew "Kid" DePaul, born in Pittsburgh on November 22, 1928 is a celebrated amateur and professional boxer and referee; and,
 
WHEREAS, DePaul won 82 of 92 amateur fights, as well as the 135-pound Dapper Dan Golden Gloves championship and the 135-pound AAU AMA championship in 1946, was an AAU finalist in Boston, and won the National Golden Gloves Championship in 1947; and,
 
WHEREAS, throughout his professional career, DePaul accumulated a record of 31 wins, 8 losses, and 3 draws, and was ranked ninth middleweight in the world in 1950; and,
 
WHEREAS, upon the end of his professional career, DePaul served as a referee for boxing and wrestling shows in Pittsburgh, including the well-known program Studio Wrestling broadcast from Pittsburgh, has served as the State Athletic Commissioner for Western Pennsylvania since 1990, and has a display at the Heinz History Center; and,
