Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and honor Alan Perry for the important work and dedicated contributions supporting the young people in the community of, and does hereby declare November 16, 2012, to be "Alan D. Perry Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, life's most valuable of gifts are those that are difficult to calculate in material terms, given discreetly and without thought of reward; and

WHEREAS, Alan Perry, founder and owner of Perry Insurance Group, provides his clients with exemplary performance and the highest standards of ethics, knowledge, service, and productivity; and

WHEREAS, Alan Perry serves on the Northside Community Development Fund (NSDF) Micro-Enterprise Committee, providing direct investment loans at low, fixed rates for small business owners with the necessary working capital and support they need to succeed; and

WHEREAS, despite the misconceptions of Scouting in urban areas, Alan Perry leads as Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 281 & Pack 281 in the Manchester neighborhood on Pittsburgh's Northside, Troop 281 is the only Troop in the Boy Scouts Greater Pittsburgh Council (Allegheny, Beaver, Greene, and Washington Counties) that has produced three African American Eagle Scouts in three years; and

WHEREAS, active in many organizations, Alan Perry has served as Worshipful Master for Star of the West Lodge #62 of Prince Hall Masons, elected as president of the National Black Presbyterian Caucus, Pittsburgh Chapter, and a New Pittsburgh Courier's annual Men of Excellence Awardees in 2010; and

WHEREAS, Alan Perry is most of all the loving husband of Anita, father of Christopher, Grace, Milea, Dora, and Quentin, grandfather of six grandchildren, and one great-grand daughter - always a great and loving family man; and

WHEREAS, on November 16, 2012, at the Past Masters' Banquet, sponsored by the Faithful Twelve, Alan D. Perry will be honored with a Past Master Award in recognition of his dedicated communal efforts;
