Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Catherine Baron for her length of years and vitality of spirit and sends birthday wishes on the occasion of her 100th birthday; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, October 19, 2012, to be “CATHERINE BARON DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Catherine Baron, born on October 19, 1912 and raised in a family of eighteen children in Westmoreland County, will be celebrating her 100th birthday with friends and loving family at Glen Hazel's Kane Center; and,
 
WHEREAS, Catherine Baron was married to John, a wonderful man and devoted husband and father, for almost 60 years.  They shared three children, and three grand children, seven great grand children and three great-great grand children; and,
 
WHEREAS, Catherine Baron, once a stay-at-home mom, is a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend who excels at cooking and baking.  Catherine Baron also enjoys doing needlework and reading in her spare time; and,
 
WHEREAS, Catherine Baron has been able to see and experience some of the world's most amazing progress and accomplishments in this century like television, the Salk Vaccine, invention of cell phones, the Civil Rights Movement to the election of an African American President as well as the last time the Pirates won the World Series.
