WHEREAS, The Federation of War Veterans' Societies, Inc. was formed in 1919 for the purpose of providing an annual Veterans Day Parade in the City of Pittsburgh to honor the more than 42,000 war veterans living within the City of Pittsburgh; and,
WHEREAS, the organization will hold its 93rd annual Veterans Day Parade downtown on Saturday, November 10, 2012 honoring veterans from all wars including the post 9/11 veterans; and,
WHEREAS, the parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Grant Street and Liberty Avenue and end at Commonwealth Place; and,
WHEREAS, the Federation continues to educate the residents of the City of Pittsburgh on the importance of recognizing our veterans and all they have sacrificed, not only for the City of Pittsburgh, but also our nation; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Federation of War Veterans' Societies, Inc. for their continued dedication and hard work in making each year's Veteran's Day parade a success; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, October 16, 2012, to be "The Federation of War Veterans' Societies' Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
