WHEREAS, The Saracen Klub, an Alumni Association of Beta Epsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, is hosting a 75th Anniversary Weekend on Friday, September 14 to Sunday, September 16 at the Sheraton Station Square; and,
WHEREAS, the event will celebrate 75 years of the organization's contributions to the lives of young men at Duquesne University, Carnegie-Mellon University, Robert Morris University and University of Pittsburgh campuses; and,
WHEREAS, on September 19, 1937, Benjamin Duncan, Lorenzo A. Hill, Russell T. Washington, Walter Roberts and Ralph O. Barnett chartered the Beta Epsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi in an effort to perpetuate the histories and traditions of Kappa Alpha Psi in the city of Pittsburgh; and,
WHEREAS, the Beta Epsilon chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi has sought to unite college men of culture, patriotism, and honor on the campuses of Duquesne University, Robert Morris University, Carnegie-Mellon University, and University of Pittsburgh in a bond of fraternity, with the goal of instilling a sense of achievement and pride while promoting the social, spiritual, intellectual and moral welfare of its members; and,
WHEREAS, since the chartering of the chapter in 1937, over eighty lines and over 400 men have been initiated into the Beta Epsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, which has been instrumental in the establishment of other undergraduate chapters in the East Central Province; and,
WHEREAS, past and present members at Duquesne University, Robert Morris University, Carnegie-Mellon University and University of Pittsburgh are sponsoring the 75th Anniversary weekend, led by Event Chairs Michael McLenden, Eric Cofield and Darryl Washington;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend The Saracen Klub Alumni Association of Beta Epsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity on their 75th Anniversary.
