• Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Bethel A.M.E. Church for hosting the 145th Session of the Pittsburgh Annual Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Bethel A.M.E Church hosted the 145^th Session of the Pittsburgh Annual Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church - Third Episcopal District (which includes Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia) from September 12 to September 16; and,

WHEREAS, Bethel A.M.E Church is the "Oldest Church of Colored West of the Allegheny Mountains" and the oldest church of color in the City of Pittsburgh; and,

WHEREAS, the first Annual Conference was held at Bethel Church in 1830; and,

WHEREAS, the newly appointed Bishop of the Third Episcopal District, The Right Reverend McKinley Young and his wife, Episcopal Supervisor, Dr. Dorothy Jackson Young, will be presented and presiding during this conference at 2720 Webster Avenue, Reverend Stephen A. Jackson, host pastor;
