Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby welcome the International Forum of Visual Practitioners to the City and commend their valuable and innovative work; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare July 24 to July 27, 2012 to be “International Forum of Visual Practitioners Week” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the International Forum of Visual Practitioners (IFVP) is community of creative leaders from around the world who share a common passion for bringing information and ideas to life visually; and
 
WHEREAS, the work of visual practitioners lies at the intersection between creativity, education, art, and technology, helping to simplify complicated public issues and elevate the public discourse through interactive art; and
 
WHEREAS, IFVP exists to enhance the craft as a strategic tool and vital force for addressing the world's complex social, environmental and economic issues, facilitating brainstorming and discussion using visual representation and working to artistically preserve conversation; and
 
WHEREAS, the 17th annual conference of the International Forum of Visual Practitioners will be held from July 24 through July 27 at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh; and
 
WHEREAS, the conference will bring together visual artists from around the world to share best practices of the field, enhance their visual and business skills, network with other practitioners, and discover technologies that will drive the future of the field.
