Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, July 24th, 2012, to be Over the Bar Bicycle Day in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, opened on January 2nd, 2009, as a bar, restaurant and meeting place for outdoor and bicycling enthusiasts of all kinds, Over the Bar Bicycle Café has quickly grown into an institution on Pittsburgh's South Side; and,
 
WHEREAS, OTB's menu consists of a veritable smorgasbord of hearty salads, delicious paninis and unique burgers for both carnivores and vegetarians alike, including the famous Dirt Rag Delight burger which comes smothered in local grocer Wholey's homemade peanut butter, and which can be purchased for only $5, along with any of their other burgers, every Monday night; and,
 
WHEREAS, besides offering frosty beverages and mouth-watering cuisine, the mantra of OTB has also been to promote bicycling for people of all ages, both for recreation and as an alternative means of transportation; and,
 
WHEREAS, to further this goal of bicycle promotion, OTB has been an advocate for safer streets for cyclists throughout Pittsburgh and a huge supporter of Bike Pittsburgh, donating 10% of all happy hour sales on Fridays toward this cause, as well as holding fund-raisers for bicyclists who were hit by cars; and,  
 
WHEREAS, OTB helps organize the alternative transit community in Pittsburgh by promoting safe group bike rides with Major Taylor Cycling group, Grupetto Pittsburgh and Pedal Pittsburgh among others, and host parking for these cycling groups at their brand new on-street bicycle corral; and,
 
WHEREAS, Over the Bar Bicycle Café, recognized nationally as a Bicycle-friendly business by the League of American Bicyclists, has become a destination spot on East Carson Street for both cycling activists and hungry patrons; and,
