WHEREAS, hospitals do not apply and winners do not pay to market this honor, Thomson Reuters, a leading provider of information and solutions to improve the cost and quality of healthcare, uses objective research and independent public data to recognize the best U.S. hospitals; and
WHEREAS, selected from more than 1,000 U.S. hospitals, the 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals is an annual quantitative study that identifies the nation's best of Cardiovascular services, the winners provide top-notch care and set new standards for the health care industry; and
WHEREAS, the 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals spend an average of $4,000 per bypass surgery case, have significantly better 30 day survival, maintain lower 30-day readmission rates for heart attack and heart failure returning patients to daily life, on average, half a day earlier; and
WHEREAS, hospitals treating a broad spectrum of cardiology patients, including those being treated for heart attacks of heart failure and those undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention or coronary artery graft surgery were evaluated in the following areas:
