WHEREAS, Bon Air resident Jimmy Adler has been singing the blues for over 20 years in and around Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, the Sovereign of the Stinging Slide's music has been described admiringly by critics as "Claptonesque" and "reminiscent of grandma's pot roast," and he has recorded three albums, including his most recent offering, "Midnight Rooster"; and
WHEREAS, he has taught English the past eight years at CAPA downtown, and at Carrick High School for the eight years before that, enriching the lives of his students year after year; and
WHEREAS, Jimmy Adler has been singing the Bon Air Blues since 1998 when he moved to the area, where he has made himself an asset to his community, playing neighborhood festivals often; and
WHEREAS, the Gerent of the Jazzy Jump has performed in Chicago, California, New Orleans, and Mississippi as well as a tour in France, and this Pharaoh of the Four-to-the-Bar will be playing with his band in the upcoming Pittsburgh Blues Festival at Hartwood Acres; and
WHEREAS, the unquestioned Sultan of South Pittsburgh Swing will be representing this region in the 2013 International Blues Challenge in Memphis.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh jams in unison to the melodic tones of Jimmy Adler, Baron of the Blues; and
THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, July 17, 2012 to be Jimmy Adler Day in the City of Pittsburgh
