WHEREAS, Childreach USA is dedicated to utilizing grassroots partnerships throughout the world in order to improve childrens' access to healthcare, education, and basic human rights; and
WHEREAS, these initiatives empower children to create positive change through sustainable, community-based solutions; and
WHEREAS, Childreach USA employs close collaboration with villages in the less-developed world to address the specific needs of a given community, providing volunteers with a comprehensive understanding of community development; and
WHEREAS, Pavel Gaydos, President and Team Leader of Childreach USA at the University of Pittsburgh, played a pivotal role in bringing this program, which is in its first year, to the City of Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, the expansion of Childreach USA to include the other colleges and universities within the City of Pittsburgh will further strengthen the efforts made to alleviate the plight of children worldwide.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Childreach USA's efforts to work for childrens' healthcare, education and basic humans rights through sustainable development projects that help communities progress by giving them the tools they need to make ongoing changes for themselves; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare April 25, 2012 to be "Childreach USA Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
