Title
Resolution authorizing the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh to submit seven applications for financial assistance for seven projects in the aggregate amount of $2,500,000 to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for the operation and administration of certain programs and projects in FY 2011-2012. (Council Districts: All).

Whereas, URA wishes to obtain financial assistance from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the amount of $2,500,000 for the following programs and projects (collectively, the "Projects"):

Wood Street Commons $375,000
East Liberty Place South $500,000
Shanahan Affordable Housing $400,000
Main Street Program $500,000
Elm Street Façade Program $200,000
Enterprise Zone Program $ 25,000
1600 and 1602 Broad Way Avenue $500,000

Whereas, URA has prepared seven applications for financial assistance for the Projects (the "Applications") under the under the FY 2011-2012 Keystone Communities Program; and

Whereas, URA has indicated in the Applications that $4,459,505 in HUD Upfront Grant, Community Development Block Grant, HOME, City, Pittsburgh Development Fund, UDAG Program Income, CITF and other local funds will be provided as the matching share of Project costs; and

Whereas, the City of Pittsburgh and URA are desirous of obtaining funds from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for the prevention and elimination of blight under Section 4(c) of the Housing and Redevelopment Assistance Law, as amended.

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

Section 1. URA is hereby authorized to file the Applications with DCED for seven grants in the amounts set forth above and totaling $2,500,000 for the Projects for FY 2011-2012 and administration thereof.
