WHEREAS, Cribs for Kids®, a National Infant Safe sleep Initiative which aims to eliminate accidental infant deaths due to unsafe sleep environments and decrease infant mortality rates throughout Pennsylvania, was founded in 1998 in Pittsburgh by District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala, Jr., Judith Bannon, the late Mayor Bob O'Connor and the late Commander Gwen Elliot; and
WHEREAS, Celebrate & Share was founded in 2002 by Bonnie DiCarlo and JoAnn R. Forrester to feature the achievements of women and raise funds for organizations that focus on the needs of women and children in the Pittsburgh community; and,
WHEREAS, on March 7, 2012 at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Downtown Pittsburgh, the 7th Annual Celebrate & Share Women of Achievement Awards "A Celebration of Women's History Month" to benefit Cribs for Kids® in Allegheny County will take place; and
WHEREAS, this distinct gathering will honor 23 prominent and successful women in the Pittsburgh Region for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions to the community that include: Deborah Acklin, Melissa Anderson, Tammy Aupperle, Melissa Bizyak, Melanie Brown, Dr. Linda M. Clautti, Mary Conturo, Etta Cox, Dr. MaryAnn R. Davis, Mary Ann Eisenreich, Harriet Ellenberger, Michelle Figlar, Gretchen Lengel Kelly, Holly Lorenz, Cynthia Maleski, Barbara Bateman McNees, Inez Miles, Erin Molchany, Joni Rabinowitz, Sharyn Rubin, Dianne Swan, Kristy Trautmann, and Maria Watts;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby officially recognize and honor Cribs for Kids® for their success in reducing the incidence of infant deaths due to unsafe sleep environments through their awareness campaigns and successful outreach, and does hereby declare March 7, 2012 to be "CELEBRATE & SHARE WOMEN OF ACHIEVEMENT DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.
