Resolution naming Allegheny Public Square to Buhl Community Park at Allegheny Square.
Body
WHEREAS, the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh has provided a venue for educational advancement for the city and regions youth; and,
WHEREAS, through generous funding from a variety of sources the Children's Museum continues to flourish and establish a beautiful building and setting to provide joy to local families; and,
WHEREAS, the Children's Museum is working to transform Allegheny Public Square into a vibrant community space; and,
WHEREAS, a principal contributor and ally to the Children's Museum is the Buhl Foundation which has provided critical funds to facilitate the needs of the Museum; and,
WHEREAS, the Museum is raising over 6 million dollars to build this new community green space at the center of one of Pittsburgh's most historically rich neighborhoods; and,
WHEREAS, Because of the historic relationship the park site has with both the North Side community, the adjacent Buhl Planetarium building, and in honor of the Buhl Foundation's significant contributions, the Children's Museum requests that the park name be changed to Buhl Community Park at Allegheny Square.

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
Section 1. That Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby authorize and direct the Mayor and the Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation to name the Allegheny Public Square to Buhl Community Park at Allegheny Square.
