Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Mr. Greg Panza for his dedication in making Mount Washington, Duquesne Heights and the City of Pittsburgh a place for the residents to take pride in and have a better life; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, February 28 , 2012, to be “Greg Panza Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Mr. Greg Panza, a resident of Mount Washington, has been an asset to the Mount Washington Community Development Corporation as their Program Manager for the past seven years where he has been involved in numerous efforts to benefit Mount Washington, Duquesne Heights and surrounding communities; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Panza is a Pittsburgh boomerang, who was lured back to the City of Pittsburgh after living in the State of Arizona for several years and once settled here again, committed himself fully to being engaged in the transformation of the city; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Panza was integral to the creation of multiple business district vision plans in 2008 and in 2010 and was part of a team that created an award winning marketing campaign called Vu+ which included the development business recruitment packages, marketing materials and a website to attract new businesses and investment to Mount Washington; As a result, fifteen new businesses created at least fifty new jobs and invested over five million dollars in the business district; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Panza has also worked with major developers in the efforts to turn the South Hills High School into a premier senior living complex, and was successful in keeping Boggs Elementary from being demolished; and,
WHEREAS, Other efforts of Mr. Panza include the establishment of the Art Marketplace, the development of at least three murals in a business district in Mount Washington and the creation of a Rain Garden; and,
WHEREAS, After seven years of hard work and extremely honorable accomplishments, Mr. Panza will be moving on from the MWCDC to new endeavors, but is still willing to be involved in the community and helping the residents of Pittsburgh; and,
