Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate and commend Hough's Taproom and Brewpub for investing in the neighborhood they love and creating a welcoming, inviting environment for the city's restaurant goers ; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare February 21, 2012, to be “HOUGH'S TAPROOM AND BREWPUB DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, The Houghs are a well known and well respected family who have strong and deep roots in the Greenfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh; and,
WHEREAS, having left Greenfield in 1991, the Houghs returned to the neighborhood to open a business that has come to be known as the “Cheers” of Pittsburgh; and,
WHEREAS, following the dream of the oldest sibling, Matt, who wanted to own a restaurant and bar that was a place to gather and socialize like the pubs in England, the Hough Family opened Hough's Taproom and Brewpub in 2008 at 563 Greenfield Avenue in the heart of the Greenfield Business District and most recently opened a brew on the premises called the Copper Kettle Brewing Company where customers can brew beer on professional equipment, bottle it and put their own label on it; and,
WHEREAS, the Hough Family, consisting of Mom, Barb, Dad, John and three children, Matthew, Gregory and Cassandra, all came together to bring this successful business to Greenfield which they consider not only to be home but a thriving and growing community; and,
WHEREAS, Hough's is a craft beer bar and brewpub specializing in domestic microbrews with 61 taps and over 200 bottles of beer available and has a fully equipped kitchen for dining and catering. Hough's has become a favorite gathering place of the Greenfield community as they host a block party every summer to raise money for the community and is a sponsor of the Pittsburgh Sports League and a participant in many other charity events; and,
WHEREAS, Matt, the oldest son, is the owner of Hough's and is the co-owner with his brother, Gregory of the Copper Kettle Brewing Company. The entire family is part of its success with Mom Barb as Manager, Dad John and sister Cassandra, a student at the University of Pittsburgh and cousin, Jeff Medjimorec working in the restaurant and 31 employees rounding out the Hough's team.
