Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Pittsburgh City Council declares Tuesday, December 13th, 2011 to be Helen Baney Day in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Helen Baney has been a dedicated resident, concerned citizen and wonderful neighbor of the Allentown community for 87 years; and,
WHEREAS, Helen Baney has served 39 years on the Allentown Community Development Association, formerly known as the Hilltop Civic Improvement and Allentown Civic Association, and serves currently as a board member and active volunteer at every community event; and,
WHEREAS, Helen Baney has served 32 years on the Allentown Senior Board, where she is currently Secretary; and,
WHEREAS, Helen Baney has repeatedly aided St. George Church's community efforts in Allentown, serving faithfully as Secretary for the PTG for St. George High School throughout the 1960's, and serving on the committee to paint the inside of the Church, and having worked tirelessly to raise money to redo the World War II plaque on the side of the Church; and,
WHEREAS, Helen Baney always serves dinners at the Bethlehem Lutheran bi-annual dinners, consistently selling the most tickets for the dinners; and,
WHEREAS, Helen Baney was instrumental in composing the first publication of the Allentown History Book, sharing her insights and stories from a lifetime of living on the Hilltop; and,
WHEREAS, Helen Baney has lived in Allentown for 87 years with her grandparents and her parents, and has raised four daughters in the neighborhood with her husband, and has become an icon of public service in Allentown with her vitality of spirit and commitment to the community; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Pittsburgh City Council declares Tuesday, December 13th, 2011 to be Helen Baney Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
