Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Pastor Charles and Dr. Shirley Brown for the selfless work they have done in creating a ministry to help make our communities stronger and create a better place to live; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, December 11, 2011, to be “Pastor Charles and Dr. Shirley Brown Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Victorious Faith Evangelistic Outreach (VFEO) was founded by Pastor Charles and Dr. Shirley Brown and LaVerne Haines-Stevens in June of 1986 as an interdenominational outreach ministry which was first located in the Clark Building downtown and are now celebrating their 25th Anniversary and a mortgage burning for their church; and,
 
WHEREAS, the outreach was given a building at 708 Idlewood Avenue, once a crack house, the ministry used it for good by holding various children's programs and it is now being used to hold NA and Co-dependents Anonymous meetings; and,
 
WHEREAS, In July, 2001, the ministry purchased a building on the corner of Bergman and Sherwood to function as a church where Sunday services are held; and,    
 
WHEREAS, in addition to Sunday services, the ministry is involved with street witnessing, prayer walking, block parties, weekly Bible studies, and monthly outreach programs held at Mt. View and Crafton Heights and community days where food, clothing and furniture is given to needy families; and,
 
WHEREAS, most recently Victorious Faith Evangelistic Outreach has been involved with Abraxas Workbridge, Touching Families, Inc., and Children's Youth and Services;                          and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Pastor Charles and Dr. Shirley Brown for the selfless work they have done in creating a ministry to help make our communities stronger and create a better place to live; and,
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, December 11, 2011, to be "Pastor Charles and Dr. Shirley Brown Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
