WHEREAS, on June 6, 2011, the passing of Robert Sladack has left us deeply saddened, he will be missed but not forgotten; and
WHEREAS, a person's heritage and neighborhood can become a very important part of who they are; and
WHEREAS, Bob Sladack never forgot his heritage, it was his willingness to use his financial skills to help the various Croatian and North Side nonprofit organizations in his community that was admired and appreciated; and
WHEREAS, Bob Sladack devoted much of his attention to helping the Javor Hall in the North Side, he never hesitated to get his hands dirty when needed by helping serve meals, wash dishes, and mop floors after a hall fundraiser dinner or a fish fry; and
WHEREAS, the greatest satisfaction Bob Sladack felt was from the community's dedicated efforts in designating the St. Nicholas Croatian Catholic Church on East Ohio Street as a historic landmark and saving the church from demolition; and
WHEREAS, the world has been changed by his work, a claim that not many can make, the great leadership Bob Sladack exemplified by his dedication and calm demeanor will continue; and
WHEREAS, on December 3, 2011, at the St. Nicholas Day Banquet at Javor Hall, Robert Sladack was memorialized for his work, his life and his heart;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and honor Robert Sladack for his dedicated communal efforts, and does hereby declare the month of December to be "Robert Sladack Month" in the City of Pittsburgh.
