WHEREAS, Teresa Marie Ursula (Potvoricky) Habib was born on October 15, 1945, in Košice, Czechoslovakia; and,
WHEREAS, in 1949, her family immigrated to the United States to escape the 1948 communist coup, settling in Monessen, Pennsylvania, bringing with them unwavering faith, courage, and hope for a better future; and,
WHEREAS, Teresa was raised alongside her beloved younger siblings, Ludmilla and Jon, and proudly became a U.S. citizen at the age of 18. She graduated from Har-Brack High School in Natrona Heights in 1963; and,
WHEREAS, on June 25, 1965, Teresa married her soulmate, Peter John Michael Habib, in Virginia. Together, they lovingly raised eight children-Joseph, Elizabeth, James, David, Gregory, Peter, George, and stepdaughter Nancy-in Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania; and,
WHEREAS, deeply devoted to the Blessed Mother, Teresa shines as a cherished member of the Our Lady of Victory church community. As a warm and nurturing matriarch, she lovingly embraces her children, 14 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, passing down rich Slovak and Lebanese traditions; and,
WHEREAS, on this joyful day, October 15, 2025, we gather with full hearts to celebrate Teresa’s 80th birthday and honor her enduring legacy as a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend, and pillar of strength, love, and faith; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh proudly recognizes Teresa Marie Ursula Habib and celebrates her extraordinary 80 years of life, love, and devotion; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Wednesday, October 15, 2025 to be “Teresa Marie Ursula Habib Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
