WHEREAS, the Eagle Scout Award is the highest rank in Scouting of which only 4 percent of youth earn and is based on performances in the areas of responsibility, leadership, service and outdoor skills; and,
WHEREAS, Jason Friss achieved the rank of Eagle Scout from Boy Scout Troop 66, on Monday, February 10, 2014 and was recognized at the Eagle Ceremony on June 16, 2014 at the American Legion Langley Post 496 in Sheraden; and,
WHEREAS, for his final project to obtain Eagle Scout, Jason coordinated 24 volunteers who contributed over 243 hours improving the Emerald View Park Trail system in Mount Washington by building 3 water crossings along the trail and by installing a picnic table at the trail entrance; and,
WHEREAS, Jason graduated from City Charter High School in June, 2014 and was a member of the National Honor Society and a member of the Robotics Club which participated each year in the "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics Competitions; and,
WHEREAS, in the fall, Jason will attend California University of Pennsylvania where he continue his interest in robotics through their Robotics Engineering Technology Program; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to his interest in computers and video games, he enjoys camping, fishing and biking; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate Eagle Scout Jason Friss for his outstanding achievement of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare , Monday, June 30, 2014, to be "Jason Friss Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
