WHEREAS, born in Pittsburgh and raised in Stanton Heights, Harold Marcus has lived a fulfilling life of a dedicated Pittsburgher, in his words bleeding black and gold, and enjoying a career crafted from passion, dedication and commitment; and,

WHEREAS, graduating from the University of Pittsburgh, Harold was a 30 year old father of 2 in 1981, having just lost his job at a private finance firm, when Bill Cohen from Pennsylvania Israel Bonds approached him at Bagel Nosh to say hello, make small talk and ultimately inquire of Harold if he might be interested in a career with Israel Bonds. The rest is history; and,
WHEREAS, Harold was married to his wife, Maxine Cohen, who he met when they were 15 years old, married at 20 and were member of Temple Sinai, where Harold taught Religious School for 45 years. Maxine passed away just short of their 37th anniversary. Harold Marcus began his work at Israel Bonds in 1981, the first 30 in Pittsburgh as a Sales Representative, the next 10 years in Philadelphia as Executive Director of the PA Region, believing deeply in the mission to help build the Jewish State's economy through investments; and,
WHEREAS, Harold Marcus is retiring from Israel Bonds on November 3, 2021, and there will be an Honor Societies Tribute Event on December 9, 2021, at Temple Sinai to honor his 40 years of dedicated service to Israel Bonds. While he still loves what he does, is still extremely passionate about the work, he will stay in Philadelphia with his wife, Maureen Wander Miller, who he married in 2011 and with whom he plans to enjoy life, travel and spend time with family.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Harold Marcus on his commitment and passion to the work of Israel Bonds, for his devotion to helping Israel build and sustain its economy through investments and congratulates Harold Marcus on his retirement and wishes him good health and happiness; and, ...
