Title
Resolution authorizing the Mayor and the Director of the Department of Public Safety or the Chief of the Bureau of Fire to enter into an agreement with Philips Medical Systems NA to facilitate this donation of HeartStart BLS MRx monitors/defibrillators, to have access to necessary operating software, and to ensure for necessary care and maintenance of the Devices at a cost not to exceed $3,983.25.

Body
Whereas, Philips Medical Services, the University of Washington Clinical Trial Center, and Laerdal Medical AS are working together to conduct a clinical study (the “Study”) to determine certain benefits of new HeartStart MRx monitors/defibrillators (the “Devices”) and have offered such Devices at no cost to various public safety agencies in exchange for participating in the Study; and

Whereas, the City's Bureaus of Emergency Medical Services (“EMS”) and Fire have determined that it will be in the best interest of the City and its residents to participate in this Study; and

Whereas in consideration for participating in the Study, the City's Bureau of Fire will receive 47 Devices at no cost for said equipment; and

Whereas, the City's only costs in participating in this study will relate to a required concurrent service agreement to ensure the proper care and maintenance of the Devices; and

Whereas, the City's Bureau of Fire wishes to participate in the Study and enter into Agreements with Philips Medical Systems NA to facilitate this donation of the Devices, to have access to necessary operating software, and to ensure for necessary care and maintenance of the Devices.

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
